The Artist database contains additional information
about artists. The artist database dialog has the following
sections: Artists available in artist
database This lists shows all the artists currently available in the database. The
artist is shown as a whole (first-name last-name), but also by last-name.
The artist name can be splitted into two pieces first-name and
last-name in the Artist editor. For bands starting with
The, you can put the word The as first-name and the group name
as last-name. That way you can also choose to sort on last-name instead of
first-name which also works for groups starting with The then. See also

Automatically update Biography from
Wikipedia
Press this button to update the artist database with all
artists in albums and tracks (if selected). Missing artists will be added. In
the Sync Status column of the artist list the state of the artist
related to album and tracks is shown. When an artist is not referenced any
longer it will also be visible here. By sorting this column it is easy to select
all
unreferenced and delete them.
Set this option if you want also artists added which only
have tracks
but no full albums.
Set this option if you also want to add composers,
conductors and orchestras to be
added to the database.
